Sandrena Gel (Estradiol Gel Sachets)

Where and how to apply your Sandrena Gel for effective oestrogen absorption

What is Sandrena Gel?

Sandrena is a topical estradiol gel that comes in individual unit-dose sachets. Like Estrogel, it delivers oestrogen through the skin as part of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT). Each sachet contains a fixed dose of estradiol — your doctor will specify the strength and how many sachets to use each day.

🌿 Important reminder

If you still have a uterus, you will usually also need a progesterone (such as Prometrium) alongside Sandrena Gel. Please confirm this with your doctor.

Where to Apply

Sandrena is applied to the outer thigh or lower body. It should not be applied to the arms or upper body.

RIGHT THIGH

Rotate daily — apply to the left thigh one day, and the right thigh the next, or as directed by your doctor. This reduces the risk of local skin irritation.

❌ Do not apply to

  • Face, neck, or scalp

  • Breasts or chest

  • Genital or rectal areas

  • Skin that is broken, irritated, sunburnt, or recently shaved

How to Apply – Step by Step

1

Check your dose

Use the number of sachets prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the number without checking first.

2

Clean and dry skin

Apply to clean, dry skin on the outer thigh or lower body area as directed. Wait until skin is completely dry after washing.

3

Open the sachet

Tear open the sachet and squeeze the entire contents onto the application site (outer thigh or lower body).

4

Spread the gel

Spread the gel gently over an area roughly the size of two hand-prints. Rub in gently but do not massage vigorously.

5

Allow to dry

Allow the gel to dry fully for 2–3 minutes before dressing. Do not cover with tight clothing until dry.

6

Wash hands

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying to prevent accidental transfer to others.

When to Apply

  • Apply once daily, at approximately the same time each day.

  • Avoid swimming, bathing, or showering for at least 1 hour after application.

  • If you miss a dose, apply as soon as you remember on the same day. Do not double up the following day.

Transfer Precautions

⚠️ Skin-to-skin transfer risk

Oestrogen gel can transfer to others through direct skin contact. Keep the application area covered or avoid close contact for at least 1–2 hours after applying. Be especially careful around young children and male partners.

Storage and Safety

  • Store sachets at room temperature (below 25°C).

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  • The gel contains alcohol — do not use near open flames until dry.

  • Dispose of used sachets safely, out of reach of children.
